CHRISTMAS FOR THE ÁNGELES GUARDIANES CHILDREN

On Saturday December 8th, the local Transport Company MAIPÚ S.A. provided a city bus to bring the children of the Soup Kitchen Ángeles Guardianes to our center for about 4 hours to celebrate Christmas and New Year with us.

Thanks to the generous help of many, the children received toys, Tshirts, books and other little things to make each one feel special.

They played Volley ball, Soccer and swam a whole lot. They also enjoyed a delicious Chicken Salad sandwiches and cake.

Mother Theresa of Calcutta said that although the help seems like just "a drop in the Ocean, nevertheless the Ocean would not be the same without it". This is why at Mendoza Vision International we are happy to contribute to improve the quality of life of the people in our community

DONATION OF BRICKS

The local Transport Company ANDREU gave us 2000 bricks for the construction of our soup kitchen.

Since 2002, except on rare occasions, the children have been served outside; cold or warm weather.

Francis (Alain) and Joaquin were there to receive the bricks.

STEAKS FOR THE SOUP KITCHEN

Thanks to Gustavo, owner of a Butcher Shop, (in the picture between 2 volunteers, Martha and Joaquin); we have been able to vary the menu of the food we serve at our soup kitchen: Ángeles Guardianes.

Gustavo gives us some meat weekly.

As you can see, the children love the steaks.

CLOTHES BAZAAR FOR THE FAMILIES OF OUR SOUP KITCHEN

Once a month we organize a "Bazaar" of donated used clothes. We display the donated clothes for the mothers to choose some garments for their children. We found that by asking a small nominal fee per piece of clothing (about 10 cents US), they valued the clothes more than if they were just donated.

DONATION OF CEMENT FROM THE COMPANY MINETTI

On October 16, 2007, the Company Minetti, (the main cement company in Argentina), gave us 20 bags of cement to help in the construction of the dining hall for our soup kitchen.

Here our volunteer Joaquin went to receive the cement with the pick up truck of our dear friend Nestor.

COLLECT OF FOOD FOR THE LOCAL FOOD BANK

On October 14, 2007, three of our members, (Pandy, Cristina and Melody) volunteered to help in a collect of food for the local chapter of the International Food Bank, called (Banco de Alimentos de Mendoza).

It was an all day event and took place at a Model Planes Show.

VISIT TO A REMOTE SCHOOL

The cityhall of Maipú, which is the little town where our Center is located, asked us to go visit a poor school in a remote deserting area. We drove so far that we almost ran out of gaz.

There were more than 100 children waiting for us. It turned out to be a big day for them and us.
