DONATION OF BOOKS TO SCHOOLS

We realized that poorer schools in our area were in dire need of books.
Thanks to "Activated Ministries" in the USA
who donated the books, we distributed 44 sets of books. Each book was full of stories with a lesson.
We had to summit the books for approval by the local department  of education and after reading them, they said that the books were some of the best they had ever seen to teach children the real values of life.

MARATHON YACOPINI

The car dealership Yacopini Motors organized a marathon called "the 80 Challenges of Yacopini". 80 teams of 3 people participate. Each team must include a person physically challenged.
We were asked to help out with the orientation, pointing the teams to the right direction when they came to a crossroad and we distributed water and gaterade.
To enter the  marathon, each team had to bring stapled food. The food was then donated to our soup kitchen Angeles Guardianes.

PROGRESS ON THE SOUP KITCHEN BUILDING

We have been working hard on the construction part of our ANGELES GUARDIANES soup kitchen building. Already some walls have been raised, although not yet all the way to the right hight.

THE MALL OF THE CHICKEN

We were looking into adding chicken to our menu. A retailer called "El Shopping Del Pollo", (the mall of the chicken); accepted to help us by donating some chicken weekly.

In the picture is Valeria, the owner, with her employees; as well as Martha, (one of our volunteers), on the left.

FREE HUGS

On Easter Friday we wanted to do something different; so we decided to give "FREE HUGS!" We also wanted to give out tracts about the true meaning of Easter: LOVE. Can there be a greater proof of one's love than giving his own life for his friends?

We distributed over 500 tracts and gave over 1000 hugs.

THE WEDDING OF JEREMY AND MELODIE

On March 9th, 2008, Jeremy and Melodie tied the knot. Both are Volunteers at Mendoza Vision International. We thank everyone who made this day so unforgettable by giving us a hand with the food, the wine, the desert, the catering and...Especially by gracing us with their presence. Some of Jeremy's and Melodie's relatives came from other continents.

GRAPE HARVEST AT THE AIRPORT

More than 4000 people came to see the annual concert organized by the local chapter of the Food Bank. Mendoza Vision International was invited to participate in the collect of food, by being the ushers.

The entry to the event was simply to bring a bag of non perishable food.

OUTING AT THE ZOO

Once again we took the children to the zoo. The public transport company EMPRESA MAIPÚ donated the use of a bus, and well...

THE CHILDREN RECEIVE NEW SHOES

Antonieta worked hard in Italy to save enough money to come here in Mendoza in order to buy tennis shoes to all the children of Angeles Guardianes.

OBSTACLES ARE FOR OVERCOMERS

Caylin (7) and Pablo (11) are performing a song to bring a point home at a home base seminar on overcoming obstacles. The song is the story of 2 frogs that fall into a can of cream. One is immediately discouraged and lets itself drawn. The other decides to swim to survive and in doing so it shakes the cream so much that it turns it in butter. Finally it jumps out of the can to safety

All the participants received a certificate of completion

DONATION OF EDUCATIONAL BOOKS TO CONIN

Activated Ministries gave us some educational books to distribute in different institutions and schools

For Christmas 2007, the first institution to receive these books was the Foundation CONIN.

CONIN feeds and provides basic needs to hundred of under or malnourished children to improve their chances of getting a head start in life.

In some pictures we see our volunteer Joanna with Doctor Albino; founder and president of CONIN; receiving the books.

The young volunteers of MVI sung some Christmas Carols and we gave 8 sets of 4 books for their library.

CHRISTMAS FOR THE ÁNGELES GUARDIANES CHILDREN

On Saturday December 8th, the local Transport Company MAIPÚ S.A. provided a city bus to bring the children of the Soup Kitchen Ángeles Guardianes to our center for about 4 hours to celebrate Christmas and New Year with us.

Thanks to the generous help of many, the children received toys, Tshirts, books and other little things to make each one feel special.

They played Volley ball, Soccer and swam a whole lot. They also enjoyed a delicious Chicken Salad sandwiches and cake.

Mother Theresa of Calcutta said that although the help seems like just "a drop in the Ocean, nevertheless the Ocean would not be the same without it". This is why at Mendoza Vision International we are happy to contribute to improve the quality of life of the people in our community
